On February 25, 2014, the reggae dial will reset. The bar will be raised. Any and all forms of garbage reggae will be exposed for what it is – soulless and disposable.
Addis Pablo’s long-anticipated debut LP IN MY FATHER’S HOUSE hits the streets. It will be 43 years this year since young Pablo’s father, the enigmatic maestro Augustus Pablo, entered Randy’s Studio 17 with producer Herman Lin-Choy and laid his first track to record, “Iggy Iggy,” a melodica-driven quirky little tune to the version of The Heptones “Why Did You Leave.”
IN MY FATHER’S HOUSE is an impressive debut that brings full circle that legendary “far east sound” that the senior Pablo created “East Of The River Nile.” Although Addis Pablo may still reside in his father’s house, he and fellow musician/producer RasJammy Triniyard have renovated that house, leaving alone the solid foundation and structure built by Augustus Pablo. On that foundation, Addis and RasJammy, AKA the Suns of Dub, have constructed a new house that has little resemblance to the previous one.
Addis Pablo and RasJammy are innovators in every sense of the word. Their business plan is innovative, their sound is innovative, and their grass roots approach to getting their music to the people is innovative. Pablo could have easily taken the successful formula developed by his father and employed it with great success. Augustus Pablo’s sound and vibe is one that still resonates with most reggae fans the world over. However, he decided to use the tools given to him by his father to build a sound all his own.
I will save my thoughts on IN MY FATHER’S HOUSE for the review I am currently writing, however, I can tel you this: IN MY FATHER’S HOUSE is a phenomenal piece of work and one that exceeds every expectation I had for the album.

“Basically the documentary is a visual representation and introduction to Addis Pablo and the album. It is 2014 and people demand access, they want to see you and know you. The audiovisual approach brings more life to projects and with this we want to give people a more in-depth look into the life and times of Addis Pablo.”
