Premiere: Gyal (Clean) – TroyBoi & Chris Marshall (Music Video)

We are glad to show you this premiere of GYAL. A great collaboration by Troy Henry, better known as Troyboi and Chris Marshall. As you are used from World A Reggae, No Explicit Lyrics in this video.

For his first-ever reggae production, TroyBoi teams with Jamaican dancehall artist Chris Marshall on a new party starter “GYAL” out today (September 10) on T DOT Records.  Marshall, known for “Tu y Yo” featuring Brazilian singer-songwriter Anitta which was a big track on her Grammy-nominated studio album Kisses, delivers a sultry swag on top of TroyBoi’s island vibed production.  Often used to refer to a girlfriend, “Gyal” is a slang term of West Indian origin that means “Girl.” The song is also accompanied by a colorful video created by black-led 3-D animation studio RENDRD Media (www.rendrd.com).

I’ve loved reggae music from a very young age,” TroyBoi says. “There is a huge West Indian community in the area that I grew up in South East London so I would always hear the music being blasted from my neighbours houses or in the local shops I’d go to. I remember my parents played a lot of Bob Marley and UB40 in my house so it definitely inspired me greatly in my future productions. When I met Chris, we vibed extremely well in the studio and his vocal talents made it easy to create the music to accompany him. I’ve always wanted to make a reggae track and we’re both so pleased with how it came out. When it comes to my music, I’m always ready to experiment, to step outside of the box and evolve my craft.”

Producer TroyBoi (Troy Henry) has never been shy about working outside the box.  “GYAL” follows the release of his V!BEZ Vol 4 EP earlier this year featuring tracks with Tropkillaz, Nina Sky and NEFERA, “Red Eye,” a production for Justin Bieber which appeared as a bonus track on his latest album Justice, an 80’s roller disco-inspired track “You’re The One For Me” with DESTRUCTO, a remix of Brazilian sensation Anitta’s “Girl From Rio (featuring DaBaby),” and his latest “BUSS IT.”

About Chris Marshall

Chris Marshall, born Adrian Christopher Marshall, was born and raised in St. Catherine Parish, Jamaica. He grew up surrounded by music, from jamming at home with his family after dinner to growing up and exploring the country’s many dancehalls. Sundays were a musical day in his household, where the family would come together and listen and dance to music on the radio. Chris found himself influenced by Jamaica’s most recognizable artists like Richie Spice, Freddie McGregor, and Beres Hammond. His journey as a composer started when he bought his own computer and began experimenting with beat making. As early as high school, Chris could be found in different studios mastering his craft and bringing the sounds of the island to life with his music. The quiet and laid back artist found his voice in making music. Chris Marshall finally achieved his first success with the track that would eventually go on to become one of the best chart-toppers of 2006. Sean Paul’s “Temperature” gave Chris the credibility needed to elevate his career as a hit-maker for the modern dancehall sound that was taking over the airwaves. The song not only topped the Billboard Hot 100 Charts but also won the 2007 Grammy Award for Dance Song of the Year. Over a decade later, Chris still puts forth the same amount of work and effort into everything he does. His goal is to continue creating music that is true to the message from his humble beginnings and the passion behind dancehall music that is heard around the world. He encourages others interested in following his footsteps to continue doing what they love and never give it up, especially if it’s music. Chris is currently signed to independent label Rich Music Inc. His latest work includes a collaboration with international artist ANITTA on “Tu y Yo” which has accumulated 15 million views on YouTube and was featured on her 2019 album “Kisses.” Chris is also set to release his first EP under Rich Music titled “Marshall Law” in September 2020. His first single “iFear” featuring label mate Justin Quiles and Nigerian superstar Kizz Daniels is out now.
