MIAMI, FL – Dante’s HiFi, Miami’s first listening bar, opened its doors in Wynwood on September 18. An intimate and soulful space for the discerning music enthusiast, guests can expect authentic, HiFi musical experiences from globally recognized artists in a LoFi, comfortable setting. From Dante’s state-of-the-art sound system, audiophiles will appreciate an extensive library of vinyl records from resident Music Director Rich Medina’s personal collection.
For the musically curious and melomaniacs alike, Dante’s HiFi brings sincere vibes and a level of sophistication to the music scene in Miami that hasn’t existed before. The bar is open to the public, with a 50-person capacity. Membership opportunities are also available.
Listening bars first became popular in Japan in the 1950s as a communal place for music aficionados to listen to records. The American version has been referred to as a HiFi bar, with only a few similar concepts that currently exist in major cities like Los Angeles and New York. Dante’s HiFi represents analog music culture, which in and of itself makes it a one-of-a-kind destination. Partners Arturo Nuñez, Sven Vogtland, Alan Drummond, Rich Medina, and Jourdan Binder came together because of their mutual love for music and bringing people and cultures together. All creatives and entrepreneurs in their own rights, their complementary skill sets make them a powerhouse team, which is apparent with the attention to detail found within the velvet-lined walls.
The group tapped Rich Medina as Music Director, providing a home for roughly 8,500 of his unprecedented personal collection of vinyl records. An elite international DJ who, in the thirty-plus years since he spun his first record, has turned his young love for music into a celebrated career as a platinum-selling record producer, recording artist, poet, journalist, and Ivy League lecturer. His experience and long-standing credibility in the music industry made him a natural fit for the role, overseeing the impressive talent lineup and programming for members and guests – from intimate DJ sets, panel discussions, multimedia presentations, and more – that will come through the doors on a weekly basis.
“Dante’s HiFi represents a beautiful opportunity to raise the bar on my own archival and curatorial toolbox. It also represents a chance to raise the bar for Miami’s music community. In a world of disposable music, I believe it’s high time Miami had a space rooted in the high fidelity analog mindset.
I’m beyond proud to be curating what I believe will become a vital library of music and experiences for everyone from the staff to the patrons to the talent we choose to collaborate with. We represent both a revisitation of DJ fundamentals and a lens into the future. I believe that not only applies to music selection, but it also applies to event programming and curatorial wherewithal. I’m sincerely excited about the future.” – Rich Medina, Dante’s HiFi Music Director.
The team enlisted Urban Robot to design the mid-century modern space that feels like an extension of the partner’s living rooms. Dante’s HiFi features a unique cocktail program designed by 305 Concepts’ Corporate Mixologist Bryan Canales. Reservations can be made through Tock in the link HERE.
