Festival season is in full swing in Europe, and the amount of (Reggae) Festivals is uncountable. On the weekend of July 29, World A Reggae had the privilege to attend the Reggae Rotterdam Festival again.
This year the festival had to move to the AHOY Venue, an indoor venue in the heart of Rotterdam. The fact that the festival was indoors during the summer sparked some conversation on social media.
Still, in the end, it didn’t seem to be too much of a problem for the approx 25.000 patrons that came out to the dark venue to see Big Mountain, Tarrus Riley, Julian Marley & The Wailers, Don Carlos & Geo, Shiwa, Anthony B, Horace Andy, Beenie Man, Mad Professor, Sean Paul, Eek A Mouse, Stefflon Don and the main act Diva Lauryn Hill. Unfortunately, Sister Nancy canceled her show and left an explanation on her Instagram page.
We won’t go too much into the details of the festival, but the fact that we didn’t get to take pictures of all the performances had to do with some organizational irregularities and the immense size of the venue which made it hard to switch between the stages. The result of our efforts can be seen in the pictures below.
To cut it short this was, let’s say, A special day that has been thoroughly discussed online and will stick in our memories for a while.
