Twenty years after their debut album Revival, New Zealand reggae band Katchafire brings it back to life with fresh sounds. The first track from the project, “Seriously (Revived Version)”, is now on Spotify and other platforms. The band also kicked off their Australian tour with sold-out shows and high ticket demand.
Katchafire’s singer and founding member Logan Bell shared the story behind the track “Seriously”. “It’s a love song I wrote years ago about neglected relationships. At the time, music was our main focus, and everything else came second. Revisiting the song has been a great experience, and we’re excited to share this new version with our fans.”
For this revival, Katchafire is remixing the tracks from Revival with help from Jamaican producer Stephen ‘Dubklaat’ Maxwell and Earthkry’s Philip McFarlane. They’re also re-recording songs with guest artists from around the reggae world, making this project truly special.
Reflecting on the original album, Logan Bell said, “Revival came out during a big reggae resurgence. It carried a message for the under-represented and helped us connect with people worldwide. Listening to those original recordings now makes me proud of what we created back then.”
With the Revival project releasing in 2025, Katchafire celebrates their roots while bringing new life to its music. Stay tuned for more songs and collaborations as they share this updated journey with their fans!
