Eek-A-Mouse’s Classic “Ganja Smuggling” Returns to Vinyl

“Early, early Sunday morning…” The unmistakable voice of Eek-A-Mouse is back in full “bang bang biddy beng beng” style with the official reissue of his iconic 1981 ganja anthem, “Ganja Smuggling.”

This high-grade herb runner’s anthem, one of the most unique tracks in Jamaica’s music history, is finally getting the proper vinyl treatment. After years of unofficial bootlegs, Greensleeves has stepped in to release a heavyweight 7-inch pressing of Eek-A-Mouse’s signature tune, complete with a mind-bending Dub mix by the Roots Radics on the flip side.

Interestingly, despite its legendary status, “Ganja Smuggling” was never officially released as a single until a limited Record Store Day edition in 2018. Now, in 2024, the track is reissued in style with a custom illustrated picture sleeve and the original ‘Volcano’ label of producer Henry ‘Junjo’ Lawes.

Recorded at Channel One Studio in 1982, the song epitomizes the early Dancehall sound that defined the Greensleeves catalog and shaped reggae’s global reach.

For reggae fans and vinyl collectors, this is a must-have slice of history. Get your copy and let the “tallest mouse in town” bring the vibes once again!
