Nuclear biography
Dwight “Nuclear” Whyte began his musical career while still attending Braeton Primary. His first live performance was a stage show dubbed the Greatest Show on Earth in Portmore at the tender age of seven. He continued to perform at various shows locally and in 1995 released his first recording “Innocent” for legendary producers Sly & Robbie’s Taxi Label.
Since then, he has recorded countless singles, most notably Eagle Fly, Weaky Weaky, Resident Evil, Gwaan So Bad, and Pimp Juice with Vybz Kartel. Over the years Nuclear has performed on some of the biggest shows in Jamaica such as Sting, Portmore Awards, Spring Break, Fully Loaded, West Kingston Jamboree as well as a number of shows at various Caribbean countries.
In 2007 he was the victim of a drive by shooting in Portmore and was involved in a car accident, which left him in critical condition, while on his way to the hospital.
This setback prevented him from recording for over a year, however, would serve as motivation in returning to his craft with a vengeance. He returned to the studio in 2008 and has since released a number of singles including Gwaan So Bad, Bend Down Gal featuring G-loc along with an accompanying video. The Mixtape “Right About Now” was released in September of 2009 featuring many underground favourites and exclusive tracks.
