Farenheit

Born and raised in Kingston, Jamaica, FARENHEIT has been performing and recording music around the world for over a decade. His unique blend of styles has been termed Jamaican Soul, and as the premier artiste in the genre he’s caught the attention of many, including web giant myspace.com, who featured Farenheit on their music page in early 2006.

Through his role as backup singer and hype man for international superstar SEAN PAUL, he has performed in front of millions of people worldwide, and appeared on television shows such as Leno Show, the Late Show with David Letterman, and Jimmy Kimmel numerous times. Traveling around the world on gigs with Sean has helped Farenheit to develop a vast network of musicians and producers to record with, including recent collaborations with reggae superstar SIZZLA, as well as up and coming urban sensation JEANNIE ORTEGA. The collaboration “Hit ‘Em” which features Farenheit, Sean Paul, and JIGZAG is due out second quarter of 2007, was recorded in Los Angeles in late 2006 with Grammy nominated, platinum producer Josh One, and is sure to hit radio airwaves and clubs hard. After a successful eight-date West Coast tour (USA) in late 2006, Farenheit rang in the New Year in true “rock star” fashion, performing in front of a sold-out crowd inside Times Square’s Nokia Theatre.

“Port Antonio Virgin,” due out internationally second quarter 2007 on Jamaican indie label MYSTIC URCHIN MUSIC, is a follow up to the 1999 release “Fringe to Fore,” a self-produced, avant-garde project which landed him on the cover of music industry Bible Billboard Magazine. Billboard saluted him for his innovative blending of musical genres, edgy yet soulful styling, and infectious bedroom melodies. “Port Antonio Virgin” is named after the Jamaican beach town where he began his ventures into the realm of singing, recording, and producing at GEEJAM STUDIOS the same “studio-in-paradise” where NO DOUBT and the GORILLAZ recorded some of their biggest tunes.

Along with singing, recording and producing, Farenheit loves to act and do graphic design. In 2002 he lent his vocal and writing talent to the multi-ethnic production “Adelante” (Forward Recordings), which also featured fellow Jamaican artiste KY-MANI MARLEY. The movie was released in France to great commercial and critical success. Shortly after that he debuted in theatre as lead singer in an HIV awareness musical staged in South Africa, then followed up in Jamaican plays Against His Will and Dirty Diana, which took him around the world as well. Soon after, he paired with Paul Campbell (The Lunatic, Dancehall Queen, Shottas) and co-starred in Redemption, then followed up with the “Goathead.” He is perhaps most widely known in Jamaica for his recurring character on the hit Jamaican television series Royal Palm Estate.
