Biography
With Humble beginnings as rural church going youth, five talented young entertainers make up the band we know as Further Notice. This band is an extraordinary Jamaican reggaeband, which was germinated over eight years ago at the prestigious Edna Manley College. By combining an original sound with honest lyrics and challenging social messages, has earned them the respect of their peers and critics.
Further Notice will take you on a journey through roots reggae, rock, melodies, technical instrumental passages, theatrical moods, varying vocal ranges, catchy tunes followed by catchy song writing. More than ever, the band connects all these extremes flawlessy, making this band feel more real, more versatile, and groovier than any other reggae band.
Over the years, these attributes are an accumulation of individual talents, as Further Notice happens to comprise of some of the finest musicians and vocalists around. Wayne “Unga” Thompson, one of the best drummers on the reggae scene and also one of the industry’s award winning producers for the best song of the year “Holiday” has been with the band since inception. The drums are supported by the solidness of the original bass player, Jason “Big Bass” Welsh who has worked with a plethora of artists including Morgan Heritage, Bounty Killer and Movado to name a few. Another original member, Grammy award winning producer LLamar “Riff Raff” Brown known for his adventurous keyoard riffs and soloing, has worked with the likes of Stephen Marley, Damian Marley, Jo Mersa Marley, Spragga Benz and the list goes on. The additions of the dynamic sibling duo of Tamekia “Tammy T” Moncrieffe and Ruel “Klyve” Moncrieffe on lead vocals have been a true compliment to the band. Their voices can only be described as mellisonant, soulful, “rootsy” and honeyed. This duo has the remarkable ability to effortlessly harmonize in a way that captures and connects emotionally with their fans. Between these siblings they have extensive experience performing on world stages with a vast number of performers including, Etana, Dr. Jimmy Cliff, Stephen Marley and Gyptian.
The band has released several singles including “The Herb”and “Baby Can I Hold You”and the latest single “Storm” which have been claiming recognition both on the local and international scenes. The band continues to record and rehearse, honing their craft in preparation for a debut summer tour. To see this band perform live is nothing short of mesmerizing, they draw on the groove and energy of each other to bring to their live performances a feeling of social consciousness. They try their best to be real to everyone they come in contact with and be examples of their social messages.
The members of Further Notice all agree that they are truly blessed and they all feel passionate about being a blessing to others. They are commited to using their extraordinary talents to give voice to those whose voices often go unheard. Further Notice comprises of five completely different personalities but when they come together, they make an undeniable impression on your mind and soul!
