Born in Surinam as a son of a musical father, he was directed to follow musical lessons at the music academy. And those lessons have paid off. Kaseko (Surinamese music), African influences, soul, reggae, rock, pop and hip-hop; Marq Marquis does it all. In the eighties he started with TSC (The Superior Crew).

After to have shared the podium with Cookie Crew and had done the opening show for Cash Money in de Melkweg (The Milky Way), the time had come for him to go solo. Going solo Marq Marquis started to wright more poetry with musical reggae influences to accomadate his productions. After setting up his band 4WARD he started with a Bob Marley Tribute and over the years mastered the Tribute To Gregory Isaacs but most of all he loves to share his own original songs.
