Embattled dancehall star Busy Signal has decided not to fight the United States justice system. The “One More Night” deejay pleaded guilty to a charge of absconding bail when he appeared in a Minnesota court on Thursday (July 19).
Signal, whose real name is Glendale Gordon, initially pleaded guilty to the charges last month after he was arrested in Jamaica.
Prosecutors say that Busy Signal jumped his bail in 2002 ahead of a narcotics trial and fled to Jamaica. The deejay has remained a fugitive up until last month when he was arrested in Kingston.
Busy Signal is facing up to 18 months in a Federal prison and a fine of up to US$30,000. U.S. District judge, Donovan Frank has outlined that Busy will be deported back to Jamaica after serving his sentence.
Busy Signal’s attorney, Bill Mauzy, says he will ask for a sentence of time served, however, assistant U.S. attorney has not indicate the sentencing recommended by the prosecution.
