Shabba Ranks is currently working on his first album in 15 years.
The dancehall legend last album was 1998 and has been missing off the dancehall scene for the most part of the last decade.
But now the Grammy-winning dancehall star has announced his return with a new album due in 2014.
“I am working on numerous ideas to create hit records,” Shabba told the Observer. “A new album is always in the works, when a major record label is ready to do some business then we will see how it goes in terms of a release.”
Shabba Ranks is the only dancehall artists to win two Grammy awards for his albums As Raw As Ever in 1992, and Xtra Naked in 1993.
Last year Shabba Ranks performed in at Reggae Sumfest in Jamaica for the first time in years.
Shabba Ranks will be performing at Caribbean Fever Irie Jamboree Music Festival in Brooklyn on September 1st. Damian “Junior Gong” Marley and I-Octane will also be performing on the same night.
