Every year Coleur Café tries to please reggae and dub lovers with a series of well-known as well as young and surprising artists. Recently they added three more names to this list: The Gladiators ft. Droop Lion on Saturday, Asian Dub Foundation and Ky-Mani Marley on Sunday.
They got an interesting reggae and dub selection this year. Living legend Burning Spear chose Couleur Café as his only European festival this summer. The African reggae icons Alpha Blondy and Tiken Jah Fakoly as well as the very promising Jamaicans Protoje & The Indiggnation won’t be at any other Belgian festival either during the whole summer.
Good reggae music stopped being exclusively Jamaican years ago. Danakil, the hottest reggae band in France, and German party band Seeed will easily prove us right. Two of our new names will provide Jamaican irie vibes: Ky-Mani Marley is grandmaster Bob’s fourth son to play at Couleur Café. As it will be for roots-reggae band The Gladiators – who’ll be bringing rising star Droop Lion – it’ll be his first time at Tour & Taxis. For those who prefer their music somewhat sturdier, we’ve got the most explosive live band of the UK: Asian Dub Foundation. Dr Das and his pals return to their favorite festival, as they once called it, with original members and fresh musicians.
Quite some Rastafari among our Wanted! selection as well: insiders think roots reggae band Iron Ites might well be the best Belgian reggae band of the moment.
Wanted! DJs I-SON vs Mighty Patch ft. Ichman, Root Pursuit and Selectah Nesta will be spinning more reggae, ragga and dub tunes. And of course, the indispensable Raggaravane will provide nonstop Jamaican vibes in the Solidarity Village.
