DJ 745 presents the Global Reggae Charts Top 20 countdown on WorldAReggae.com in association with Global Reggae Charts. Ten new entries into the singles chart including Micah Shemaiah who is this months featured artist on issue #11 of the Global Reggae Charts Magazine and part 2 of an article on reggae careers in the internet age.

The 11th issue of the Global Reggae Charts magazine is out now, and again we feature a rising star in this month’s issue; Micah Shemaiah. His album “Roots I Vision” directly made it to #2 on the album charts and convinced us to feature him on the front cover of the Global Reggae Charts magazine. Additionally you will find the next chapter of the “Reggae Careers in the Internet Age” series, an interview with Philipp Kause, who is a presenter of the Rastashock radio show at Radio Z in Germany and of course the new single, album and riddim charts.

Looking at the single charts, we find a lot of new entries. “Help the weak” by Chronixx and Capleton made it directly to #1, while Koffee – our last month’s feature – has her two singles now at #2 and #3. After 8 months on the charts “Can’t Breathe” left the charts, but Kabaka directly placed a new track called “Borders feat. Stonebwoy”. Further new entries coming from Micah Shemaiah, Protoje, Joe Pilgrim & the Ligerians, Dre Island, King Kong and Shaggy feat. Sting at the places 9-14, and Katchafire and Tarrus Riley at 19 and 20.

On the album charts the change is not as big as on the single charts. Dubmatix made it from #7 to #1 with his Sly & Robbie “Overdubbed” album and Micah Shemaiah made it directly to #2. Randy Valentine dropped from #1 to #5, while Hollie Cook made the biggest just this month from #18 to #6. Further new entries coming from King Kong and The Dubbeez.

While I assumed last month, that the newly established riddim charts will reflect the higher speed of the riddim production business, this month’s riddim charts does’t confirm this assumption. 4 of 5 entries are the same and even the positions barely changed. The “Gratitude” riddim by Irievibrations left the charts and the “Yaad N Abraad” entered at #5.
