Back again at the annual Dry Diggings Music Festival! One that always brings a good balance between what some would call a more Jamaican-based reggae artist and newer generation Cali Roots style reggae acts. The California massive over the last few years have been following this show around a bit like Goldilocks. This year’s festivities were held at the Gold Country Fairgrounds in Auburn, CA. A third site to hold this great festival.
But this new venue proved to be a good fit with lots of close-by parking, shaded tent sites for camping, and ample room to move around and enjoy yourself. This year was especially warm here in NorCal. So there were provided shade structures in some areas and what seemed like a mostly look the other way “no pop-up/shade device” policy. So everyone made it work.
And a good thing because there were some incredible acts to be had! Friday was what most of my friends and family were waiting for. This lineup included artists like EN Young, Groundation, Jesse Royal, Don Carlos, Protoje, and closer KyMani Marley among others. I was sure this would be the most popular day. But boy was I wrong.
We came back on Saturday to see Fortunate Youth, Soja, and Dirty Heads among others. And so did everyone else. It was cracking! Sunday was the same way with performances by Marlon Asher, Arise Roots, Long Beach Dub All Stars, Pepper, and Slightly Stoopid as some of the big hitters. Here are a few shots and highlights from the show. Another banger in the books!
