When you click the play button for Beenie Man’s new album ‘Simma‘, you can expect a real musical treat, especially considering Beenie Man’s extensive catalog. I am pleased to say that Beenie delivers exactly that after 7 years: 20 new tracks that take the listener on a musical journey. This journey seamlessly transitions from Hip-Hop Vibes to Afrobeats, Soca, Dancehall, and Reggae. Additionally, many familiar voices such as Shaggy, Shenseea, Stonebwoy, Busy Signal, Patoranking, and Bunji Garlin contribute to this star-studded album.
Somehow, this album has a unique impact, more like a refreshing musical experience that leaves you eagerly anticipating the next track. Whether it’s ‘Supa Star‘, a collaboration with Sean Paul and Anthony Red Rose, or ‘Fun in The Sun‘, a combination with Dre Island and Popcaan, the creativity shines through.
It’s a delight to see so many artists showcasing their talents alongside the esteemed Beenie Man. For instance, the last song on the album, “Prayer” with Charly Black and Louie Culture, or “Let Go” with Tina (Hoodcelebrity), and the ‘girls anthem’ ‘Dem Want More” alongside Morgan Heritage.
Listening to the album it is evident that the project boasts the involvement of esteemed production houses, including Sean Pauls’ Dutty Rock Productions, Teddy Riley and The FaNaTiX, Money Matters Entertainment, Frankie Music Productions, and MD Music Group. Additionally, Simma benefited from the expertise of top-tier producers such as Andre “Suku” Gray, Walshy Fire, Richie D, Tony Kelly, Jerome Wright, Rohan Smith, and Jeremy Harding. Once again the power and added value of good producers shows on this album.
I encourage you to explore the full album and be thoroughly entertained. Unfortunately, this album carries a Parental Advisory label. So it’s not for the faint-hearted. This makes me wonder “When is it getting awkward for a 50+ year-old person to sing about sexually explicit content?…LOL” But on a serious note… I can’t wait to see Beenie back on stage, performing these new tracks live.” Mr. Davis, congrats on this new project!
