Black Prophet’s much anticipated reggae album, Tribulations released June 21, 2011. After an intensive year while creating new impetus with a group of international artists and stage managers, Black Prophet now proudly presents Tribulations
Tribulations’ contains African reggae sounds and conscious vibe mixes with different reggae styles, offering up a unique African hip-hop flair. The album features exciting collaborations with big names like Mr. Dean Fraser, Capleton (King Shango), 2face, Asem and Tinny. Showcasing different producers, Tribulations includes impactful lyrics, political conscious medleys and love songs. The album also features a Ghanian song in honour of Black Prophet’s birth country.
The winner of Benelux Reggae Contest 2010, Black Prophet has performed at major European festivals and has had a mesmerizing effect on the crowds. His previous albums include, Legal Stranger and Prophecy. In 2007, Prophet’s ‘Doubting me’ was named best reggae song of the year at the Ghana national Music Awards. A year later, he headlined the Oland Roots festival in Sweden, where he heralded several songs from the album ‘Legal Stranger.’ A very humble artist with a modest upbringing, Prophet is considered Ghana’s most prominent international reggae export- next in line to Alpha Blondy from Ivory Coast and the late South African, Lucky Dube.
Like many great reggae performers, Black Prophet is deeply committed to his art and power of spiritual music. “The industry lives in me and I live in it. My music is to educate and elevate people from their slumber.” Prophet has toured extensively across the world sharing the stage with many international performers including: Rita Marley, Pliers, Don Carlos, Yellowman, David Hinds from Steel Pulse, Sizzla and Firehouse Crew, the late Lucky Dube, Alpha Blondy, Buju Banton & Dean Fraser.
