This February 9, Living legend, Mr. Fade Away, Junior Byles received the Lifetime Achievement Award for his outstanding works and musical contribution to the history of Jamaican music. Junior gave us all-time reggae classic hits including “Beat Down Babylon,” “Fade Away,” “Curly Locks,” “A Place Called Africa,” and many rare singles still treasured by collectors across the world. Junior received the Award out of the hands of African singer Jessica Mbangeni who flew in from South Africa to perform alongside Earl ‘Chinna’ Smith and his Binghistra, Half Pint, Gully Bop, Turbulence, Asante Amen, Natty King, Carl Dawkins and many more. The Award and 71st Birthday celebration in Kingston, at the Ranny Williams Centre were coordinated by Mr Claude ‘Big Stone’ Sinclair. He also held an emotional speech for the legendary singer.
