One of the countless gems in the Studio One catalog, ‘The Train is Coming’ by Ken Boothe has rocked bars, dancehalls, and concerts for 55 years.
Released on September 3rd, ‘The Train is Coming Riddim‘ features 15 songs by an impressive cast of artists.
Danny Breakenridge is the principal of Upstairs Music, who produced the album. He said he “had the idea for a while” to do a set of songs based on one of Boothe’s biggest hits.
“It came about from the concept of the title, Ken Boothe And The Train Gang. The artists’ selections are mainly among some of the different individuals l have worked with, and l invited them to be a part of the project,” Breakenridge explained.
The album kicks off with Boothe doing a rollicking version of the timeless title song. There are also contributions from Dwight Pinkney, Glen Washington, Bagga Case, Screwdriver, Skatta Bonnick of Inner Circle, Hezron, Wayne Armond and A J Brown. This is a ride worth taking!
