The Rototom Sunsplash, which will be held August 15 to 22 in Benicassim (Spain), moves its spirit of multiculturalism and coexistence to Bogotá (Colombia). The coming May 16 the open air theatre La Media Torta in the Colombian capital will host the first edition of the Rototom Paz festival, which will offer up to the audience 10 uninterrupted hours of the best reggae and ska.
The fact that the Sunsplash has peace as its slogan for this year’s edition has inspired the organization of this event, which will deal with issues such as the Peace Process in Havana.Participating in the event will be the local groups Alerta Kamarada, Alto Grado, La Severa Matacera, Lo Ke Diga el Dedo, Nawal, DJ Beltsazar and the dance group D&H Urban Dance, As well as guest artists such as Triple X, Diana Avella, Jessica Morales (Sin Pudor), Nicolás Barragán (Los PetitFellas) or David Kawaooq, among many others.
The festival will also hold a Forum for Peace that will bring together experts such as María José Pizarro, daughter of the head commander of the Colombian guerilla group M19, Carlos Pizarro; or the politician and activist Juan Carlos Villamizar.
Admission is free, although those who so wish are welcome to bring books, notebooks, or other school material that will distributed among the girls and boys of the rural zone of Soacha.
