The title track of the new Akae Beka album “Polarities” is a real head-knocka of a riddim and one which will surely pleasantly surprise Vaughn Benjamin fans. This uptempo, almost danceable roots reggae tune is not characteristic of the style of riddims that Benjamin usually selects for his projects. However, this tune is undeniable. Andrew “Moon” Bain (rhythm guitar) and Laurent “Tippy I” Alfred (guitar) along with Padraic Coursey (lead guitar) shine bright here with ZIK laying down the hard-driving riddim. The players are in tune and on time. I implore ZIK to put together a “Polarities” riddim project. It is that good.
Stay tuned to World-A-Reggae for an exclusive in-depth interview with Laurent “Tippy I” Alfred of I-Grade Records as well as a review of the new Akae Beka album ‘Polarities.’
