DMac Burns releases his new single Hypocrites. The track has a roots reggae feel with some hip-hop influences in the lyrical flow and the beat. It’s about the crucial moment humanity is living and how the masks have been lifted, leaving the hypocrites in plain sight. Hypocrites follows the recent releases of the singles Silent Prayer and Breakdown.
The New York artist based in Ireland describes it thus: “This song is an elemental combination of ether and fire aimed at the hypocrites who will not let go. Those who speak of peace, yet provide weapons to genocidal armies, killing civilians. Those who blame immigrants and refugees for the shortcomings of society, while cozying up to billionaires who destroy the planet and crush the economy for their own benefit. The politicians, the CEOs, the tyrants, the forces of occupation, the fascists. Their time has come. The fire will burn them, and the ether will transmute their souls into something new. We are all connected. We must embrace this oneness.”
Danny McDonald (DMac Burns) on vocals and guitar, his right-hand man, Argentinian Matías Saldivia on keyboards and Seth Nicholson on backing vocals, are joined by Jamaican drummer Craig Taylor (Julian Marley and The Uprising, Damian Marley, Akae Beka) and Argentinian bassist Lola Marco (Mada Kali). The two are actually married and have a child together and their unity can be heard in the way the rhythms came out. The song was produced and mixed by Buenos Aires based producer, Glik, of El Natty Combo, and he also provided percussion. Trumpet (Michael Mullins), trombone (Cezary Tomaszewski) and lead vocals were tracked at Echobus records in Cork by legendary Irish dub master, Dan Taliras.
