After releasing her Self-Produced Gemini album in 2020, Etana is back with a new project called PAMOJA. A 16 track (inc. Intro and Outro) album whereon Etana takes the music back to the motherland. The album is filled with tracks and collaborations that underline Etana’s connection with Africa. (hence her own name ‘Etana’ Meaning the strong One). ‘Pamoja’, which means “together” in Swahili, in this case, togetherness in all essence of collaborating with artists from all over the world, like vocalists from Nigeria, Nandy (Tanzania), Naboi and Wyre (Kenya), Wezi (Zambia), and the earlier released track ‘Proppa’ with Stonebwoy (Ghana). The Title track Pamoja is a collaboration with Yahsha from Jamaica and Michael Bundi from Kenya.
The tracks on the album are a mix of Dancehall, Afrobeat, and Reggae, and starts of with a lovely intro by a Jamaican elder named Chinna who speaks lively about Etana. One of our favorites on the album is ‘Not 4 Sale’ with Patrice. Track 15 on the album is with Alborosie, who had done a collocation with Etana before in 2008 on their hit track “Blessings”. Also, the earlier released Baby-O with Vybz Kartel fits perfectly on this album. Overall… Etana did a great job again on this new gem that contains all the vibes we are used to from her, but most of all her lovely voice.
Pamoja is set for release on June 25, 2021.
