Penthouse Records revisits its 1997 Warriors Don’t Cry Riddim.

Since its inception on the top floor of a building on Slipe Road in 1988, Penthouse Records has been consistently releasing hit after hit. Starting with “Chaka on the Move” by Chaka Demus in 1989, the label has, over the years, produced timeless tracks such as “Champion” by Buju Banton, Beres Hammond’s “Tempted to Touch,” Tarrus Riley’s biggest hit “She’s Royal,” and “Mr. Loverman” by Shabba Ranks, among many others.

Fast forward to 2024, Donovan Germain’s label continues to deliver strong new releases. Recently, Penthouse revisited the 1997 “Warriors Don’t Cry Riddim,” with Jahmali, Pinchers, and of course, Beres Hammond. For this 2024 version, Penthouse added Agent Sasco to collaborate with Beres Hammond on the original and added fresh contributions from Dalton Harris, Righteous Child, Shuga, and Slashe. Additionally, guitar hero Kenroy (Shawt Man) Mullings contributed his guitar version to the riddim. The riddim takes its name from Beres Hammond’s 1997 hit song “Warriors Don’t Cry.”
