In the fast pace world of dancehall riddims, it’s easy to get lost in a musical haze. Riddims come and go as fast as the blink of an eye, and great music can get lost in the midst. Coming from an era where one took time to enjoy and savor the music, Digital Vibez longs for a return to one of dancehall favorite eras, the 90’s. Although Digital Vibez Entertainment is fairly new as a unit, 2 of its members are veterans in the dancehall and reggae arena.
Digital Vibes Entertainment consists of veteran producer and manager Richard “Digital One” Roache and chart topping Billboard Engineer, Musician, Producer and Song Writer Gary ”Shanguly” Samuels and Michael “MadVibez” Thompson. All 3 united to bring back the vibes.
Gary “Shanguly” Samuels has worked on Sean Pauls Multi Platinum album “Dutty Rock” that won the Grammy For Best reggae album, and received acclaimed once more with Beenie Man’s Art & Life Album which received a Grammy that year for Best Reggae Album. Shanguly resume consists of some of reggae and dancehall biggest names. he also toured with:Beenie Man, Jah Cure, Luciano and Shabba Ranks just to name a few.
Richard “Digital One” Roache career goes back to legendary King Jammys recording studio and downsound records where he started off as marketing and pr agent. He then made his mark working for Jamaica’s biggest booking agency “Solid Agency ” and moved on to Juke Boxx production where he is to this day road manager for Busy Signal. “Roache Digital One” first released production was in 2002 with the Scanner riddim that was also made by shanguly, which lead the charts with hit single “Up To Di Time by Vybez Kartel. His impressive resume is extensive and stands on it’s own merits.
While Richard and Shanguly are more of the artistic creators of this team, Michael “MadVibez” Thompson by all accounts would be referred to as the business side of “Digital Vibez”. Although he developed an early interest in music at the age of 6 by hanging around his uncle’s “African Roots” sound system, it is in the latter years that he threw his hat in the promotion field, to then graduate by managing “Teflon” who became a rising reggae star.
The 90’s riddim was originally intended to be a single for the dancehall/reggae artist Teflon which DigitalVibez Entertainment manages, but after other artists who were present in studio overheard they were eager to lend their voice to this project and it was decided to make it a full riddim. Digital Vibez then reached out to Chronixx team through Daddy Barnz who made it possible.
“The idea started with Richard Digital One Roache and My self, were listening to some dancehall juggling from the 90’s and wanting to capture that same vibe, get back that 90’s feeling. Working with our engineer/producer/ musician Gary “shanguly” Samuels we were able to capture exactly what we wanted” – Madness
The riddim features Chronixx, Teflon, Ward 21, Dancehall Duchess and recent winner Dancehall Artiste of the Year at the Kingston 10 Awards in Nairobi Tiana, Bling Dawg, Formilla and songstress Nefatari, and will be available worldwide on all major downloading and streaming stores, including Chronixx’s hit “Odd Ras” dubstyle remix.
While the 90’s riddim is climbing the charts locally and internationally, Digital Vibez is already at work on their “Savali” riddim project.
