For lovers of roots reggae, Earl Sixteen probably needs no introduction. In his career spanning over 4 decades, he recorded with countless legendary producers and did hundreds of shows all over the globe.
In 2011 JahSolidRock released Earl Sixteen’s critically acclaimed album The Fittest and since then he contributed to various of our releases such as both the Addis Pablo albums and more recent “Stronger” on Kenny Smyth’s Powerful Dread LP. And now, finally, JahSolidRock can proudly present a full-length follow-up album! A tribute to the foundation of reggae music, Roots Foundation!
On the album, you will hear organic roots riddims and dubs with Earl’s soulful vocals, including a brand new version of one of his classics (Natty Dread a General), and a collaboration with another roots reggae giant, Mutabaruka. In this first new video, Earl sings his version of Ghetto is a College, one of our favorite tracks from the iconic vocal harmony group, The Meditations.
