Making history – Diamond-selling international recording musician Charly Black & Grammy-nominated British Jamaican Reggae musician Julian Marley, the son of reggae music icon Bob Marley, have joined forces on one track. The song is entitled “People of the country ” and is produced by Roc from Luxembourg and Crawba Genius from Jamaica. “It was a real honour for us to take part in this project” No doubt this is one of the biggest collaborations of the year for the island of Jamaica and the International Reggae Music industry, with a powerful, heartfelt message spreading peace, positivity and encouraging unity. This message is well needed and appreciated as we are living in perilous times where there is so much war and segregation worldwide.
Julian Marley and Charly Black are standing up for what they believe is right for the people of the country. The song speaks out strongly against the negative, social and political influences that have been affecting the country and ways in which these problems can be solved, promoting the need for fairness and equity across many aspects of the society. The song seeks to raise awareness to the ongoing situation, encouraging the Jamaican citizens to unit no matter their colour, class or creed, in order to protect the countries legacy.
Julian Marley began the song by singing “People of the country nuh badda waan like we deaf or we bind or we just cyaa feel” which basically calls the public to action. “Stop turing a blind eye” to the current situation, stand up, and address the issue at hand before it’s too late”. One line from Charly Black states: “No justice, no peace, we na guh put we mouth a grung dis time we ago speak” This message is acknowledging the threat to freedom and equality that exists in the form of injustice and a promise to stand in opposition to it.” The overall message encourages persons to use their voice to teach and set a good example to steer the younger generation in the right direction.
How did it come about that a label from Luxembourg is working on these worldwide hit songs and productions?
2014 was where it all began, Roc, a popular producer, and musician also CEO of Jamberchem Empire based in Europe Luxembourg teamed up with popular international recording artist Charly Black from Jamaica and worked on an upbeat collaboration.
