Grammy Award-winning dancehall artist Sean Paul was honored with the prestigious symbolic “Entertainers Key to the City of New York” yesterday, August 24, 2024. This special recognition was presented during the Rise Up NYC concert series, which took place at Roy Wilkins Park in Queens. With the key New York acknowledges “his significant contributions to the city’s vibrant music scene and his role in bridging Caribbean and American cultures.”
Sean Paul expressed his deep connection to New York, a city that played a crucial role in his early career and remains an important market for dancehall music. The award, presented by New York Mayor Eric Adams, highlights Sean Paul’s global impact and his role in fostering cultural exchange through his music. On his social media, the artist wrote, “Nuff respec due to @nycmayor Eric Adams and his Chief Advisor #IngridLewisMartin on this great honor.”
Other notable artists, including Fat Joe, Patti LaBelle, and Keith Sweat, also received the Entertainer’s Key during the same concert series.
Sean Paul receiving the key follows the release of his latest song “Bring It,” which he recorded for Mad House Records.
